Fibre Engineer
Location: Field-based (Reading & Guildford)
Contract: Full-time
Hours: Typically 48 hours per week (flexibility required)
Salary: £30, – £33, per annum

Our Home Division is growing, and we’re looking for skilled and motivated Fibre Engineers to help deliver high-quality fibre networks for residential customers on major contracts, including Openreach and client-specific networks.
Accreditations (Desirable)
1. SA001, SA002
2. NRSWA (Unit 2 – Signing, Lighting & Guarding)
3. IPAF 1b
4. Openreach-related accreditations ( S7, S8, N23, N27, N28, K8)

What You’ll Be Doing
5. Installing, servicing and maintaining FTTP/FTTH fibre networks and CPE
6. Carrying out overhead and underground fibre installations using Openreach PIA and client-specific networks
7. Splicing and testing fibre within acceptable loss limits
8. Using and maintaining equipment including works tablets, fibre splicing machines, power meters, fibre identifiers and microscopes
9. Working from job packs and build plans to deliver work safely, efficiently and right-first-time
10. Completing fibre blowing, cabling, backfill and reinstatement works within customer boundaries
11. Ensuring signing, lighting and guarding meet NRSWA and street works requirements
12. Delivering a professional, customer-focused service at all times
13. Accurately completing daily progress reports and required documentation
14. Following all health, safety, quality and incident reporting procedures
15. Supporting junior engineers and setting the standard for quality and safe working
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
16. Experience in a fibre or telecoms engineering environment (or a strong desire to learn)
17. Knowledge of FTTP / FTTH technologies
18. Experience or understanding of fibre splicing and testing
19. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
20. Confident working at heights (up to approximately 15 metres)
21. Strong attention to detail with a right-first-time mindset
22. Friendly, professional and customer-focused approach
23. Confident using smartphones or tablets for work instructions
24. Full UK manual driving licence (minimum 12 months, max 6 points)
25. Must have the legal right to work in the UK. Please note, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
