Overview

McDonald’s has run its business in the UK since 1974 and currently operates over 1500 restaurants across the UK and Ireland, serving almost four million customers each day. McDonald’s is one of the UK’s largest private sector employers, employing over 170,000 people.

This role is based in our East Finchley or Leeds office working 3 days in the office and 2 days remotely.


The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Location Planning Analyst to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of restaurant development across the UK and Ireland.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of our highly successful Development team, supporting the acquisition and growth of new restaurants. You’ll play a key role in evaluating new opportunities, analysing data, and influencing strategic decisions.


Responsibilities

* Analyse internal and external data to support decision-making and strategy development.
* Re-assess sales and impact estimates for pipeline sites as part of the re-approval process.
* Maintain and enhance databases covering our estate, competitors, and other points of interest.
* Track and report on competitor activity, providing insights into their strategy.
* Collaborate with external consultants and data suppliers to maximise value.
* Monitor post-opening performance and provide actionable insights to inform future strategy.
* Respond to wider business requests for geo-demographic data and analysis.


Qualifications

* A degree in a numerate discipline (e.g. Business Management, Economics, Geography, GIS).
* Strong understanding of UK & Ireland geography and the restaurant/retail sector.
* Excellent attention to detail and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups).
* Experience working with customer, transactional, and market data.
* Ability to cross-match datasets and reconcile differences.
* Strong reporting and communication skills to deliver influential insights.
* Self-starter with excellent time management and a collaborative mindset.
* Commitment to our core values and delivering outstanding customer service.
* Full UK driving licence (beneficial but not essential).
