Rotational prison mental health clinical lead (£3000 joining bonus)

York (North Yorkshire)
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust
Posted: 16 August
Offer description

You will be a Registered Mental Health / LD Nurse / Social Worker / Occupational Therapist. The team will be multi-disciplinary, and the successful candidate will work collaboratively with senior clinical staff to provide comprehensive mental health services within a prison environment.

Your responsibilities will include conducting assessments, communicating treatment options, initiating supportive care plans, and delivering evidence-based interventions alongside the multidisciplinary team. You should be committed to a person-centered approach, capable of prioritizing tasks, and adaptable in a busy, resource-rich environment.

We seek skilled professionals eager to thrive in a team working across partner services. We offer a thorough induction, workforce development, and training opportunities to enhance your skills and evidence-based practice. Candidates must have at least 18 months post-qualifying experience, including sign-off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework.

Applicants should be committed to equal opportunities and non-discriminatory practices, reflecting the trust values. Candidates are encouraged to contact us for a visit or informal discussion.

This rotational post offers six months of experience in each of the two prisons: HMP Millsike, a new all-electric Category C men's prison, and HMP Full Sutton, a high-security long-term Category A prison, both near York. Prison healthcare is challenging but rewarding, providing opportunities to develop psychiatric skills and interventions while delivering urgent and planned care to the prison population.

We can sponsor a Health and Care Worker or Skilled Worker visa, subject to eligibility. Please review the visa guidance on the UK government website.

Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is committed to a smoke-free environment and the protection of staff and visitors.

We are the Mental Health & Learning Disability NHS Trust serving County Durham, Darlington, Teesside, North Yorkshire, York, and Selby. Our 'Journey to Change' outlines our organizational goals and values, emphasizing co-creating positive experiences for patients, colleagues, and partners. We offer opportunities for clinical development in areas such as psychological therapies, non-medical prescribing, leadership, and advocacy.

Support includes bespoke induction, a competency framework, regional career development, and team support. A £3,000 Trust welcome bonus is available, paid in installments after joining, one year, and two years, respectively. This bonus is only available once to each individual.

We want you to have a positive onboarding experience. New starters can choose to begin on the 1st or 3rd Monday of each month.
