Machine Shop Supervisor Location: Cheddar Salary: £18 - £20 per hour depending on experience The company have a thriving mechanical engineering workshop in Cheddar, enabling them to provide a complete turnkey electro mechanical service for their clients. They aim to use the latest technologies on the market to deliver their services. The Role This is a great opportunity to work in their long established multibranch electromechanical engineering business, offering a variety of machining work in their Cheddar workshops, lots of overtime and occasional site work. You will also have the opportunity to enhance your skills set within training in electromechanical services unique to the business. This allows for progression in the latest technologies and further a career into management. Due to a growing demand for their machining capability, they have a requirement for a machine shop supervisor. Duties will include Manufacture and repair of parts, using manual milling and turning. Manufacture of parts on a CNC machines (advantage but not essential) Working overtime subject to workload, meeting emergency demand Be available for call outs and emergency work (on a rota basis) Mainly workshop based with occasional work on site. Training in new techniques/skill sets as required. Be able to work on own initiative to complete machining repairs Knowledge of mechanical fitting to support the machined repairs. Supervising the team and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and processes Leadership skills to develop fellow employees. Plan work flow in order to meet customer requirements. Maintains a safe and clean work environment. Perform any other duties within your capabilities as directed by the Workshop Manager Skills and Qualifications The job role will require a time served engineer with proven record of manual/conventional turning milling and general machining together with proven mechanical fitting skills. Additional experience of CNC and XYZ machines would be an advantage, but not essential, training will be given. The ability to use CAD/Solidworks package would be an advantage. The candidate will also be required to demonstrate leadership skills, be able to work with processes and procedures, dealing with customers and a team player, the role does require a hands-on approach combined with a can-do attitude.
