Support Work Assistant Hours: 35 per week Salary: £22,666 per annum (pro rated for part time employees) Working Pattern: 4-week rolling rota basis, including bank holidays and weekends. Day shifts are 8am to 8pm. Overnight shifts are sleep in shifts from 8pm to 8am. Wednesday and Sunday night 8pm to 8am Saturday daytime 8am to 8pm Staff are offered the opportunity to undertake additional shifts to cover absences. Mandatory attendance at supervision, team meetings and training outside of normal hours are paid. All staff must work flexibly on occasions to meet the needs of clients. Workplace based role Purpose of the Post: To support the delivery of specialist support to women and children living within Gwent who are affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) in primarily our accommodation services. Specific Responsibilities To be responsible for delivering specialist Domestic Abuse support services to women and children in refuges. Engage the women and children in activities during the evening Provide the women and children emotional support Carry out risk assessments and initial needs assessments to determine what level of service is appropriate. Ensure that services are available for and meet the needs of minority women. Admit new residents into refuge and completion of relevant paperwork. Ensure that accurate paper and electronic records are maintained in relation to all aspects of the service Support women to access health, legal and housing services. Support women to maintain license agreement/ contract and help them prepare for independent living. To be fully aware of the child and adult protection policy and procedures and report to line manager any concerns in this area. To act as an advocate on behalf of women encouraging and supporting self-advocacy as appropriate. Encourage women to participate in all areas of their service provision and communal living Work alongside colleagues to ensure the smooth running of all our support services. Premises and Housing Management To work jointly with the Refuge Team Leader to ensure the safe and effective management of our refuges. To take part in housing management tasks as required i.e., room cleaning and preparation, and reporting any maintenance issues. Facilitate house meetings in refuge as required. To adhere to health and safety policy and report any risks/concerns to the Refuge Team Leader, taking immediate steps where necessary to protect health and wellbeing of residents, team members and members of the public. General Responsibilities To demonstrate and promote the organisation’s ethos of trauma informed, person centred support, informed choice, and its vision and values. To proactively implement policies for anti-discriminatory practice and equality of opportunity To actively work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to achieve better outcomes for women and children affected by VAWDASV. Participate in team meetings, supervision and appropriate training. To work within the organisations Policies and Procedures at all times. Any other reasonable duties as required.
