Infection Prevention and Control Assistant

An exciting opportunity is available to join our experienced Infection Prevention & Control Team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching NHS Foundation Trust. This is a cross‑site post and you will be required to work facilitating the prevention, surveillance, investigation and control of infection within the Trust and across community settings within the borough of Doncaster.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a willingness to learn, an ability to be visible in clinical areas, work autonomously monitoring standards of practice and to promote good infection control standards, audits and feedback of results.
Job responsibilities
* Participate in, implement, provide and monitor practice to prevent and control infection.
* Support on donning and doffing of PPE and monitor hand hygiene compliance.
* Conduct mask fit testing for staff when required.
* Communicate effectively to patients while conducting surgical site infection surveillance.
* Visit clinical areas to promote infection prevention activities and carry out observations and checks.
* Address areas of non‑compliance and support staff in improving infection control practices.
* Record and organise information accurately and clearly.
Qualifications and Experience
* Team player with commitment to team objectives.
* Previous experience of working with the public.
* Clinical experience desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
* Knowledge of audit and surveillance.
* English and Maths GCSE level or equivalent.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).
* NVQ Level 2 in Care (Level 2 Diploma in HealthCare) or equivalent experience.
