Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to take a lead role within our workshop operations. This position combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring that engineering work meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. You will mentor workshop engineers, oversee projects both in-house and at customer sites, and play a key role in upholding our reputation for excellence.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead workshop engineering activities, ensuring compliance with the company's quality management system and health & safety standards.
* Supervise and mentor workshop engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
* Execute mechanical engineering work in-house, on-site, and at customer premises as required.
* Ensure all projects are completed to specification, on time, and within budget, while proactively identifying scope changes and reporting them to the Branch Manager.
* Oversee testing and commissioning of assembled units in line with manufacturer recommendations and company quality standards.
* Ensure all installations and service activities are carried out to manufacturer and customer requirements.
* Maintain accurate project documentation, including time recording, testing results, and stock requisitions.
* Support the Branch Manager in identifying training needs and implementing staff development initiatives.
* Promote a safe, clean, and well-organised workshop environment.
* Uphold company values when representing the organisation with customers, suppliers, and partners.
Other Responsibilities
* Take ownership of company tools and equipment, ensuring their proper maintenance and use.
* Support off-site commissioning, servicing, and repair work as required, including occasional work outside normal hours.
* Engage in professional development and product training opportunities provided by the company.
Requirements
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in a mechanical engineering role, ideally with exposure to hydraulics.
* Level 3 qualification (or above) in Engineering.
* Demonstrated understanding of workplace Health & Safety standards and practices.
* Previous leadership or supervisory experience is desirable.
* Full UK Driving Licence.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £30,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
