· Manage the Retail Catering team through effective communication to ensure a fully motivated, engaged, and developed workforce within the department.
Responsibilities
1. Monitor and implement service delivery standards to the client by undertaking audits and ensuring compliance with PMS/SLS criteria.
2. Support the Head of Retail in developing and implementing the business strategy for Retail Catering to improve efficiency and mitigate risks.
3. Ensure company administration, policies, procedures, and operational changes are developed, maintained, and implemented to uphold corporate assurance levels, with accurate documentation and work records.
4. Manage customer satisfaction feedback systems and external benchmarking to enhance service and quality standards, aligning with Trust and Serco goals.
5. Maintain staffing levels by managing absences, holiday requests, improving retention, and recruiting effectively to control labor costs and boost staff engagement.
6. Participate actively as a member of the leadership team, attending and leading team meetings, and providing flexible support to cover team needs.
7. Oversee the training and development of supervisory staff, ensuring safety standards and responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Assured Safe Catering System, PPM, PPE, and infection control are met.
8. Assist in managing department budgets, including labor and consumables, analyzing staffing levels and costs to improve service performance.
9. Demonstrate high standards of customer service through courteous interactions to optimize food and beverage sales and profits.
10. Undertake additional duties as assigned by management within your skill set.
Qualifications and Skills
* Basic Food Hygiene certification.
* Full knowledge of Serco and Trust working practices, procedures, and health and safety requirements, including infection control and Food Hygiene.
* Supervisory skills, including coaching, mentoring, and handling difficult situations.
* Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and customers.
* Excellent customer care skills.
* Experience in retail catering service provision.
* Knowledge of good business practices such as cost control, staff rotation, and purchasing.
* Ability to work according to standards and work instructions.
Additional Information
This is a full-time position (37.5 hours/week) with a salary of £24,465 plus benefits, including a contributory pension scheme, annual leave, and various discounts.
