Field Technical Support Fire Protection Coatings
Role Overview
The Intumescent Field Technical Support Specialist will provide expert technical assistance to customers and PPG associates, focusing primarily on the cellulosic and hydrocarbon intumescent product ranges within PPG Protective Coatings. This field-based role requires extensive travel across Europe, with occasional trips beyond the region. Flexibility to accommodate short‑notice travel is essential. The position can be based anywhere in Europe.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver hands‑on training and certification for applicators in the correct application of hydrocarbon and cellulosic intumescent coatings, utilizing both hand and spray techniques.
* Support project execution by providing technical guidance and troubleshooting on‑site.
* Collaborate closely with the PPG Protective Coatings Technical team and other colleagues to ensure consistent and high‑quality service delivery.
* Provide pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support, including commissioning, installation, testing, and maintenance services.
* Investigate and coordinate resolution of product complaints as necessary.
* Prepare detailed visit reports and maintain clear communication with stakeholders.
* Share knowledge and best practices within the team, contributing to continuous learning and improvement.
Candidate Profile
* Some practical experience in coatings application and/or inspection is preferred, ideally as a sprayer, applicator, or contractor, but candidates who are relatively new to the industry and eager to learn are encouraged to apply. Willingness to be trained and developed into the role is essential.
* Basic knowledge of hydrocarbon and cellulosic intumescent coatings and associated products is a plus.
* Good communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and work under supervision. A proactive attitude toward learning and developing problem‑solving skills is important. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently when required.
* Excellent command of English, both spoken and written, with strong report‑writing skills.
* ‘Hands on’ skills related to paint application especially spray application is desirable.
* Relevant coating inspector certification such as FROSIO, NACE, or equivalent is desirable but not required at entry level.
* Valid driving license is required.
* Readiness to travel extensively in EMEA.
* Offshore work qualification or willingness to achieve is desirable.
