LOCATION: Pacific Quay, Glasgow
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £25,700 - £30,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
News isn't just made on the front line - it's a team effort across every department. As a Technical Operator (TO), you'll be part of a close-knit team of Senior Technical Operators and Technical Operators, working within the wider Nations Operations team across Scotland.
Based at the heart of the Pacific Quay newsroom, you'll support TV, radio and online teams to gather, manage and deliver content - working closely with editorial colleagues to produce trusted, high-quality programming for our audiences. What We Do
The team of Technical Operators support yearly:
* Nearly 300 hours of TV output - including News bulletins, Political programming and ScotCast
* Over 1,000 hours of radio content.
* Plus, assisting countless other broadcasts, media services, and providing critical newsroom support
What You'll Experience
* Media Management - Ingesting and distributing media across the country
* Production Coordination - Planning recordings and managing circuit bookings
* Live Bulletin Outputting - Operate the News Control Room (NCR) and self-direct programming using our latest automated system MOSart, other tasks includes:
* camera operation
* Sound desk operation
* studio control systems
* circuit routing systemsLive Radio Coordination - Manage the technical aspects of outside sources
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
* Carry out the necessary planning to ensure that all required facilities and arrangements are available in the gallery and on the studio floor (and where appropriate for outside broadcast).
* Co-ordinate assembly of all material required for programme.
* Responsible for handling problems encountered with live transmissions, taking account of editorial priorities and availability of Resources.
* Explain the technical and operational facilities and limitations to programme-makers.
* Direct the programme for live broadcasts, transmission or recording, either on location or studio, considering time constraints, technical requirements and film-making techniques.
* Supervise and produce the editing of material as required.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* Technical knowledge of broadcast systems and infrastructure for studio and outside broadcast (OB) facilities.
* Enjoy working as part of a team and supporting others to achieve shared goals, as well as collaborating effectively with other teams.
* Are open to learning new systems, tools, and ways of working.
* Take pride in delivering reliable, high-quality work.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
* Experience of working in a live broadcast environment and a range of production genres.
* Familiarity with video editing such as Avid Media Composer,
* Knowledge of asset management systems
* Familiarity with baseband and file-based routing and ingest systems.
