Job Title: Associate Director MEP (Rail)
Location: Manchester, England, United Kingdom
As part of WSP’s Rail Station team, you will lead teams delivering Rail MEP Building Services for major railway projects. Your role includes all technical delivery from concept to RIBA 4 / GRIP 5, client engagement and internal coordination. You will work on flagship projects such as HS2, Network Rail, TfL, and others.
Responsibilities
* Lead the Rail stations M&E design team.
* Liaise M&E design with the client and contractors.
* Serve as the focal point between the client team and WSP design team.
* Work closely with the M&E design team to resolve design issues.
* Lead a team of M&E engineers and promote collaboration.
* Apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical, public health, telecoms, and fire systems in rail station design.
* Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Part L, and sustainability/net‑zero requirements.
* Deliver sustainable, low‑carbon design to meet client net‑zero commitments.
* Share knowledge and technical skills across the global WSP network.
* Interpret client specification requirements and standards in design development.
* Maintain contractual and commercial awareness of Employer’s Instruction, Early Warning, and other correspondence.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience leading MEP/FC building services design teams in rail environments during design and construction.
* Qualifications meeting Chartership requirements with a UK engineering institution.
* Understanding of HS2, Network Rail, and London Underground standards and regulated rail M&E design requirements.
* Worked with M&E clients and contractors through initial and detailed design stages.
