Leys CDI is a small and deeply rooted community charity that’s been making waves in Greater
and Blackbird Leys for nearly 30 years. We run life-enhancing activities for young people and seniors alike—from gaming nights and catering workshops to garden parties and intergenerational storytelling. We’re not just a service provider—we’re a family, a hub, and a launchpad for confidence, creativity, and connection.
The Role
We’re looking for someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the heart of community life. As our Community Development Officer, you’ll be the right-hand support to our Charity Manager, helping to plan, prepare, and deliver sessions, events, and projects that make a real difference. You’ll be part of a small but brilliant team where flexibility, initiative, and a sense of humour go a long way.
This is not a desk-only job. One day you might be helping set up a youth cooking workshop, the next you’re supporting a funding bid or prepping for a seniors’ trip to the Arboretum. You’ll be involved in everything from admin and outreach to fundraising and hands‑on delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
Session & Event Support
* Assist the Charity Manager in planning and delivering youth and senior sessions, including after‑school clubs, gaming nights, and wellbeing activities.
* Help coordinate seasonal events like the Summer Youth courses, garden parties, and intergenerational outings.
* Prepare materials, set up spaces, and ensure sessions run smoothly and safely.
* Any reasonable requests/tasks as directed by the Charity manager.
Project Development
* Support the design and delivery of community projects such as the Living in Nature initiative and Black History month cultural events.
* Help gather feedback, monitor outcomes, and contribute to project evaluations.
Administrative Duties
* Maintain records, schedules, and communications with participants and partners.
* Assist with reporting, data collection, and internal coordination.
Fundraising & Finance Support
* Contribute to funding bids, reports, and promotional materials.
* Help research funding opportunities and liaise with stakeholders.
* Support visual impact summaries and storytelling for funders.
Community Engagement
* Build relationships with residents, families, and partner organisations.
* Promote Leys CDI’s work through outreach, social media, and word‑of‑mouth.
* Champion inclusivity and accessibility across all programs.
Who You Are
* A people person with a knack for organisation and a love for community.
* Comfortable juggling tasks and switching gears when needed.
* Experience and willingness to engage a cross section of ages and work on intergenerational activities.
* Confident with IT and admin tasks, including social media.
* Creative, proactive, and ready to bring ideas to the table.
