Siemens Energy Grid Solutions is experiencing significant growth in the UK and Ireland Transmission market, securing major infrastructure projects in both the offshore renewable sector and the HVDC interconnector sector. These projects represent some of the largest infrastructure initiatives in the UK, each capable of delivering up to 3 GW of energy—enough to power 1,000,000 homes. They involve a complex integration of electrical engineering, digital technology, and mechanical fabrication. We serve both traditional transmission utilities and independent developers investing in these promising markets, with expectations for continued growth over the next five years as the country advances toward its net-zero ambitions. Siemens Energy is a market leader in this sector, with ambitious plans to deliver 50 GW of large infrastructure projects by 2030.
The Siemens Energy Grid Solutions business is responsible for the successful delivery of these large infrastructure projects. We are looking for an experienced Project Controller to join our rapidly growing team. You will be responsible for the financial and commercial management, accounting, reporting, and controlling of these projects during their completion and warranty phases.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Management of project finances
1. Ensures the accuracy of cost and pricing calculation
2. Ensures the accuracy of project finances as well as the accurate recording and reporting of such transactions in the relevant systems, SAP, PMI, DAsh
3. Attends commercial project status meetings and is responsible for updating the forecast and cost monitor accordingly
4. Prepares commercial documentation for regular project status meetings and ensures the accuracy of the commercial project data ( FC, MIKA, cash flow)
5. Undertakes invoicing according to project progress and contractual terms and ensure proper payment allocation (onshore/offshore/consortium) and taxation is applied
6. Ensuring timely applications for payment from the customer are made
7. Ensures compliance with Siemens FRG (Financial Reporting Guidelines) and local GAAP requirements
8. Supports the Commercial Project Manager (CPM) in the identification and reporting of non-conformance costs
9. Experience in data analytics, preferably related to finance processes
Risk and claim management,
·Together with the CPM Identifies, assesses, responds, monitors, reports, escalates all financial and commercial risks, calculation, tax, insurances, currency
·Together with the CPM attends the risk workshops and supports with the maintenance and reporting of risk within the project tools
·Performs the credit risk analysis for potential customers & suppliers, together with Global Procurement for suppliers
Supports the CPM with compliance to standards, rules, and regulations
10. Ensures compliance with relevant tax regulations, PATAC, NCM, PE management (tax returns, transfer pricing, delegation concepts)
11. Ensures the compliance with export control regulations
12. Ensures the compliance with hedging/currency regulations
13. Ensures proper handling of bank accounts including petty cash 'Baukasse', if applicable
14. Ensures correct methodology for evaluation of risk and opportunities as defined, in FRG, PM guide
15. Ensures adherence of revenue recognition rules and accountancy practices, guidelines and any specific regulations
16. Ensures together with the PM the adherence to internal controls (RIC), incl. ICFR
17. For cross border projects: synchronizes contract structure with tax and delegation concept; preparation and signature of NCM mandatory documents
18. Prepares and executes NCM Claims cross borders for scope outside of Regional Unit Responsibility. Raises Inter Company Billing and journals costs to offset against revenue, if required.
Collaboration :
19. Actively participate in both internal and where required external project related meetings ( team members, managers, customers)
20. Builds strong relationships and cooperates closely with other individuals within the project team and within the wider business
21. Working across borders with international team members based abroad in different time zones
Management of stakeholders :
22. Ensures efficient communication with all relevant internal Contract Management, Project Management, Work Package Managers
23. Ensures proper execution of all tasks with all relevant stakeholders, SFS ( financing, insurance, guarantees, currency & commodity hedging), CF ( AC, Taxes, Treasury, Audit), RIC incl. OR, Legal and Compliance, HR (incl. Delegation process), ECC, Customs, external auditors etc
24. Interacts with all relevant stakeholders in order to ensure the execution of all issues with regard to project financing including tracking of payment status of supplier invoices, changes in supplier details including name, address, bank account or setting up new suppliers in accordance with the procurement process
25. Monitors the performance of partners/subcontractors through the review of the cost monitor and SAP
What You Bring
·Min 5 years’ experience of financially controlling external customer projects
·Proven experience in Accounting and Controlling, Reporting, Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting
·Qualified accountant ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent
·Expertise in SAP and MS Office
·Process oriented person with strong analytical skills
·Self-organised individual with the ability to adhere to timelines
·Accurate in work preparation and diligent in documentation
·Strong communicator with experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
·Appreciation and interest for the industry we operate in
·Progression minded individual with willingness to learn and develop
·Demonstrates ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
