The role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the North West Crisis Team as a Crisis Practitioner. This is a full-time post of 37 hours per week, and it is a 7 day service with shifts of 9-5 or 12-8. It is essential you are an NMC registered Mental Health Nurse, Learn disability Nurse. The North West Crisis Team offers high quality care and fair access to people who are experiencing acute mental health crisis. The team provide a rapid, specialist mental health and risk assessment along with a robust treatment plan. One of the primary functions of the Crisis Service is to ensure that individuals who are at risk of being admitted to hospital are offered treatment safely in a community setting as an alternative to hospital admission.
The Crisis Service work to minimise the length of stay in acute inpatient settings by supporting home passes or discharge where the clinical risk can be managed within the community. The team work alongside inpatient staff to identify individuals whose care needs can be met in a community setting. The service works across the North East area of Glasgow and are based within 4 Community Mental Health Teams.
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is motivated and able to work effectively as both an individual and as part of a team. Effective communication skills both verbal and written are essential as the role involves liaising with key stakeholders including; carers, inpatient services, Community mental health teams, social work and third sector agencies.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
1. Location based around North West Glasgow area, main location is Arndale Resource Centre
2. Permanent Contract
3. Full-time position (37 hours per week)
4. Shift pattern for this post are Monday-Friday 9-5 or 12-8, Saturday/Sunday 9-5
Key responsibilities:
5. The assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation of client care/practice,
6. To support the effective management of clinical/practice and environmental risk on a day to day basis.
7. Identifying and responding to the health promotion needs of service users/carers.
8. Identifying and responding to the needs of service users/carers which might be related to gender health, domestic abuse, child protection issues.
9. Maintaining accurate records of care/practice.
10. Developing therapeutic relationships with service users/carers thereby ensuring that care needs are identified and met within a participative framework which recognises the principles of equality, dignity and respect and which takes into account spiritual and cultural diversity.
11. Ensuring that personal practice is in line with the principles underpinning the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 and those of the Patient Focus Public Involvement and Fair for All guidelines.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
13. Completion of training as a first level registered nurse in mental health with a currently valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or an Occupational therapist registered with the Health Professions Council or Social Worker registered with SSSC.
14. Some post registration experience, with experience of the mental health sector preferably community.
15. Evidence of continual professional development

17. Ability to work without direct supervision
18. IT literate basic level of Microsoft Word/Excel and Outlook
19. Applicants MUST have a full UK driving license.
