The Role
The strategic development of an effective personnel security culture across the TADE UK sites and the day to day management and delivery of personnel security policy, procedures, risk assessment, management and general security processes. Ultimately responsible for implementation of National Security Vetting aftercare across the TADE UK sites that the company provides sponsorship for. The Security Controller Lead will ensure that all aftercare activities are managed and undertaken promptly and effectively, liaising with HR and Welfare organisations within the company as necessary. Security Controller Lead will be reporting into the UK Head of Security.
This role can be based out of our sites in Lincoln, West Yorkshire, Wirral, Powys, Berkshire. But will require travel across these locations.
What You'll Be Involved In
* Establishment and oversight of the TADE UK sites approach to Personnel Security including: ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and alignment with Government standards (IPSA).
* Facilitate visits and inspections by Government or Contracting Authority representatives and ensure relevant documentation, processes or records are available for inspection.
* Interpret, implement and monitor security controls for National Security Vetting (NSV) staff, whether in the Company’s employ or sub-contracted.
* Assess and agree with network companies to ensure appropriate Vetting Sponsor controls.
* Own and maintain a personnel security Risk Register; identify, document, track, mitigate and monitor risks.
* Promote policies and decisions that recognise stakeholders’ evolving needs and ensure alignment with HR or Welfare policies.
* Embed ongoing personnel security within the Company’s ways of working in line with the UK Head of Security.
* Overall responsibility for pre-vetting checks (BPSS) and the National Security Vetting process (SC & DV).
* Ensure UKSV access to oversee vetting processes and sponsor activities of subordinate accounts.
* Report and log any changes in individuals’ circumstances affecting security clearances through appropriate channels.
* Liaise with the UK Head of Security on personnel security issues; advise on controls for new bids and contracts.
* Prepare and implement Company Personnel Security Instructions; coordinate with HR to embed personnel security in policies per IPSA.
* Ensure policies are accessible to all employees and updated as necessary.
* Brief/de-brief Security Check (SC) and Developed Vetting (DV) cleared staff traveling to certain foreign countries.
* Provide personnel security advice to management and employees; arrange for appropriate security education and awareness training.
* Ensure breach of personnel security is reported per Government requirements and contractual responsibilities; maintain a breaches register and report impact analyses to the UK Head of Security.
What We're Looking For In You
* Passion for personnel security and driving best practice and compliance, with ability to travel across locations.
* Proven knowledge of IPSA processes, procedures and protocols.
* Experience in a defence environment with understanding of FSC (old List X) site security requirements.
* Strong communication skills to various stakeholders (UK Head of Security, Site Directors, internal and external).
* Ability to present complex security information to diverse audiences.
* Willingness to challenge assumptions and ‘business as usual’.
* Active collaboration across stakeholders and sites.
* Project planning and monitoring skills.
* Ideally formal security qualifications (NPSA courses / BTEC).
