Job Summary
At our Filton site, we design and manufacture large complex structural wing assemblies and detailed metallic components for a range of civil and military aircraft. The new Manufacturing Engineer will apply CAM & Simulation expertise across 4 / 5‑axis processes to produce hard‑ and soft‑metal parts, using Siemens and Fanuc controls.
Position: 4.5‑day work week (35 hours) in a small Manufacturing Engineers team.
Responsibilities
* Manage process development in our automated machining area.
* Deploy high‑capability solutions using GKN's Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
* Provide technical support for manufacturing development and integration, resolving vendor quality issues.
* Improve efficiency, product quality and reduce non‑conforming parts.
* Ensure compliance with GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies.
* Develop technical solutions to complex problems for customers and suppliers.
* Conduct root‑cause analysis, preventive and corrective actions to eliminate non‑conformances.
* Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
* Drive continuous improvement through Lean initiatives.
Qualifications – Essential
* Experience with Catia V5 CAM and Vericut in a manufacturing environment.
* Knowledge of HNC/ONC in manufacturing engineering or multi‑axis NC programming.
* Ability to read and understand engineering manufacturing drawings and technical documents.
* Proficiency with MS Office.
Desirable
* Knowledge of Lean tools and techniques.
* Experience using SAP or equivalent business software.
