Pastoral Wellbeing Lead - Shape Hearts, Minds, and Futures

Lockyer's Middle School is looking for a Pastoral Wellbeing Lead to join our fantastic {Team:} team. Could this be you?

Are you passionate about being the champion every child deserves? We are seeking an inspiring Pastoral Wellbeing Lead to join our ambitious, tight-knit, and fiercely supportive team.

We are seeking to recruit a Pastoral Wellbeing Lead to join our ambitious and supportive staff for September 2026. In this vital role, you will be the heartbeat of our pastoral and safeguarding team. Working side-by-side with Senior Leaders and Heads of Year, you will directly drive our commitment to outstanding pupil support, creating an environment where every single child feels seen, safe, and ready to learn.

Your Impact & Responsibilities

  • Take a key role in safeguarding, ensuring our school remains a sanctuary for vulnerable pupils.

  • Work directly with children to break down barriers to learning, helping them navigate challenges and celebrate their triumphs.

  • Work closely and compassionately with families, building strong, trusting relationships to support them and ensure a united approach to their child's wellbeing and success. (Partnership with families)

  • If you are not already a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), we will invest in you. We are looking for the right person, and we have the tools, training, and established framework to elevate your career to the next level.

The Perfect Fit

  • A People Person: You have a natural ability to connect with both children and adults, build trust quickly, and navigate sensitive family conversations with empathy and tact.

  • Experienced or Adaptable: You bring a proven track record in pastoral care or safeguarding—or you possess the raw talent, empathy, and professional drive to train into a DSL role.

  • Ambitious for Children: You believe that a child’s background or vulnerability shouldn't dictate their future. You’re ready to champion our school ethos and watch our pupils thrive.

We offer a collaborative, warm environment where your voice is heard, and your well-being matters just as much as the pupils'. Plus, enjoy a good work-life balance with term-time hours and early finishes on Thursdays and Fridays.

Actual Salary £28,200 - £31,983 per annum per annum (Grade 9)

This job is {Full Time/ Part Time/ Part Time - Term Time Only:} for 37 hours per week and 39 weeks per year,  working Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:00pm Monday to Wednesday and 08:00 to 3.45 pm Thursday to Friday, during term time, which may be subject to change according to business need. About our School

Lockyer's Middle School is part of a successful pyramid of first, middle and upper schools in the Corfe Mullen area and is part of Initio Learning Trust.  Our children join us in Year 5, aged 9 and make the important transition from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 3, before moving to upper school at the end of Year 8, aged 13.

At Lockyer's, the talents and needs of every pupil are recognised and nurtured. We value the importance of developing the whole child through enriching academic, cultural, creative and sporting endeavours. Our aim is to ensure that, through the highest quality teaching of a broad, balanced and challenging curriculum, pupils are encouraged to develop an aspirational mind set which will enable them to respond positively to life’s challenges and opportunities. Our excellent pastoral care system fosters an environment where children feel safe and able to learn. Our expectations of high standards of behaviour and self-discipline encourage children to grow into respectful, inclusive global citizens.
