An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and committed pharmacist to join our Frimley Park Hospital Clinical Pharmacy team.
Rotational Training Programme
We have a structured rotational training programme which includes but is not restricted to general surgery, orthopaedics, elderly care, acute medicine, endocrinology, respiratory medicine and dispensary services among others. In addition, we offer training in specialist fields such as paediatrics, antimicrobial stewardship, parenteral nutrition and haematology.
Academic Diploma and Progression
Successful candidates will be enrolled in a fully funded academic diploma over 3 years, leading to independent prescribing pharmacist qualification. Progression from band 6 to band 7 is automatic upon achievement of relevant milestones.

The successful candidate will have the patient at the centre of all they do, possess strong communication skills and work well as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will need to be organised, well‑motivated and have excellent people skills, as well as the ability to use initiative and adapt quickly to new situations.
Responsibilities
* Provide safe, effective and patient‑centred pharmaceutical care in accordance with NHS policies, professional standards and GPhC requirements.
* Clinically screen, verify and authorise a high volume of prescription charts (up to 1000), ensuring accuracy, legality and appropriateness of medicines.
* Identify, resolve and prevent medicines‑related problems, including interactions, contraindications and dosing issues.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to optimise medicines use and improve patient outcomes.
* Support education, training and supervision of pharmacy staff, trainees and other healthcare professionals as required.
* Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives and audit activity within the pharmacy department.
* Participate in evening, weekend, bank holiday and on‑call duties in line with the departmental rota.
* Ensure compliance with local, regional and national medicines management policies and guidelines.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to reporting and governance processes.
* Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain and enhance professional competence.
Although bank holiday, late night, weekend and on‑call service provision are expected, these are conducted with a healthy work‑life balance and are fully supported by the pharmacy team.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Pharmacy degree (Masters level 4 years)
* GPhC Registration (or qualifying in the same year)
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

* Essential criteria:

o Information Technology (IT) literacy
o Ability to adapt and cope with challenges
o Ability to problem‑solve and select the best solution based on sound analysis and appropriate evidence

* Desirable criteria:
o Ability to compile reports/cases where data is presented effectively based in evidence‑based information
o Ability to lead a team
Experience
* Essential criteria:
o Experience working as a foundation year trainee pharmacist in primary and secondary NHS care
* Desirable criteria:
o Foundation year trainee experience in a hospital pharmacy, or NHS experience as a qualified pharmacist.
o Clinical audit/Quality improvement experience
o Acute hospital pharmacy experience as a pharmacy foundation trainee supervisor
o Experience of several pharmacy placements at undergraduate level
o Experience of providing a medicines information service
