The Vacancy
We are looking for an Infrastructure Support Engineer (Platforms) to join our team responsible for platform build and support for IT systems throughout De La Rue.
You will work as part of a wider Infrastructure and Security team providing the fabric on which industry leading IT solutions are built. Working with other members of the Infrastructure Team, IT Support Teams, Security & Governance teams to research, determine the scope and complexity of issues and to identify steps to resolve them, identifying areas where standards can be developed and processes improved, and work with your team to implement these improvements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide technical expertise as required to the IT Infrastructure & Security Manager and input on technical projects
2. Deliver consistency and accuracy in requests for change ensuring customer expectations are met during change implementation / rollback
3. Ensure maintenance of documentation and sharing of knowledge across the Platforms team
4. Maintain an up-to-date skill set, keep abreast of industry developments and make recommendations as to how IT teams can perform better
5. Day-to-day monitoring of platforms to ensure all systems are available
6. Respond within SLAs to service requests, incidents and problems using the service management tool
7. Bridge a gap between End User Support 3rd line and Platform SME duties -advisory/resolver on 3rd line technical issues
8. Raise requests for change, documenting step by step activities required for successful completion, testing and if necessary, roll-back of changes
9. Able to work under pressure and focus on resolving business critical issues, and deliver to strict deadlines
10. Work within an ITIL framework to manage incidents, problems and system changes.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
11. Educated with I.T Industry Qualifications (MCSE, CCNA, etc) or relevant work experience in a similar role
12. Demonstrable experience in 3rd line IT support with the ability to analyse, diagnose and fix problems and then work to find the root cause
13. Experience of Windows Server platforms and Microsoft Services: Administer and support Active Directory, Group policy, file & print services, Exchange/Exchange Online, Office / Microsoft services, Intune, and related identity services (Azure AD / AD Connect).
14. Experience with Backup concepts and Software as well as Dell and HP Server Hardware
15. Fundamental knowledge of networking - TCP/IP, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing fundamentals.
16. Solid diagnostic skills across OS, drivers, networking, authentication, and performance issues.
17. Incident Management: Triage, diagnose, and resolve escalated Windows incidents; own tickets through to resolution and provide clear status updates.
18. A methodical and inquisitive approach to solving problems and an attention to detail
19. Good verbal and written communication skills essential, able to describe technical IT subjects to Non-IT people and able to pass on experience and knowledge to IT End User Support and Junior IT personnel
20. Knowledge and understanding of the following would be advantageous:
21. Virtualization technologies (ideally VMware/VxRail)
22. Storage Arrays (ideally Dell Compellent and HPE Nimble)
23. Patch Management Software (ideally Ivanti or SCCM)
24. Shell and PowerShell scripting
25. Endpoint Protection and Anti-Virus management
26. An understanding of information security
27. Understanding of the principles of business continuity and disaster recovery with experience of deploying highly available IT solutions
