What's involved with this role: Job Title: Leasehold Finance Officer Ref: Brent 5279470 Pay rate: £20.74 per hour PAYE Role length: Anticipated 7 months Working arrangements: Hybrid working – minimum of 3 days per week in the office The role: We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Leasehold Services Officer to be responsible for the effective collection of income and recovery service, the maintenance of service charges and major works database, and a wide range of financial administrative functions. You'll help deliver an outstanding service to our leaseholders, ensuring compliance, transparency, and excellent customer care. You will need to have experience of working in a leasehold finance environment along with knowledge of housing legislation, service charges, and major works processes, including S20 consultation processes. You will be skilled in customer service, problem-solving and be able, wherever possible, to find creative ways of delivering results which go beyond what is expected. Key responsibilities: Deliver an efficient and customer-focused income collection and recovery service in line with legislation and policy Maintain accurate service charge and major works accounts, ensuring all financial records are kept up to date Calculate and distribute service charge estimates and actuals, ensuring timely and full recovery of leaseholder recharges Investigate and resolve enquiries, complaints, and disputes related to service charges, including legal and tribunal cases Support audits, prepare documentation for legal proceedings, and assist in court and tribunal representation as needed Manage mortgage accounts and liaise with external mortgage service providers Set up and maintain Direct Debit schedules, process refunds, and verify payments Prepare monthly performance reports and provide data to relevant stakeholders Promote online services and support the council’s digital transformation goals Support resident engagement activities including local events, forums, and drop-in sessions What the client is looking for: Knowledge of housing and service charges legislation and the legal processes which govern the resolution of disputes Broad understanding of housing acts or legislation and how they pertain to leasehold management Understanding of S20 consultation processes Broad level of knowledge of the processes and legislation governing service charge and major works Relevant experience of working in a leasehold finance environment Experience with major works and service charges billing preparation Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to undertake a variety of mathematical and statistical calculations Ability to facilitate online customer engagement activities Problem solving, solution focused and decision-making skills How to Apply: Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
