Cloud Infrastructure Engineer role at DWP Digital. We’re looking for Cloud Infrastructure Engineers who thrive in modern cloud environments and enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges. You’ll be hands-on with AWS, Azure or GCP using infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native networking to build and maintain secure, scalable platforms.
Join our Hybrid Cloud Services team and help keep DWP's cloud services running smoothly, support live products, respond to incidents, and continuously improve our infrastructure. We value automation, self-service, and solutions that accelerate development while reducing manual effort.
Base pay and benefits
Pay up to £52,442 plus 28.97% employer pension contributions. Hybrid working, flexible hours, and strong work-life balance.
Pension: employer contributions worth 28.97% (about £12,000 per year).
Holidays: 26 days’ leave rising to 31 days over time, with up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi-time plus public holidays.
Location: One of our digital hubs in Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield. Some time will be spent working from home and some time collaborating in a hub.

What skills, knowledge and experience you’ll need
 * Develop, implement, maintain, and review systems and services to deliver best practices, collaborating with stakeholders to set priorities, objectives and timescales.
 * Identify and automate toil; experience automating tasks with Python and Bash scripts.
 * Write and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
 * Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or equivalent.
 * Manage and maintain cloud infrastructure services and cloud networking.
 * Experience responding to alerts and troubleshooting using runbooks.
Role and responsibilities
Work in modern cloud environments with AWS, Azure or GCP. Use infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native networking to build and maintain secure, scalable platforms with resilience and security in mind. Collaborate with other engineering teams and shape solutions to meet real user needs. Monitor and improve cloud environments and contribute to automation and self-service initiatives.
