Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Van Driver to join our team. You must have Class B +E on your licence and have trailer towing experience.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently while ensuring excellent customer service. This role requires effective communication skills, a strong understanding of vehicle operation, and the ability to navigate various routes.
You will be assisting loading and unloading so physical fitness is a must.
You will be working out of Cullompton but own transport is essential due to getting to work location.
You will need to be clean shaven/goatee beard on commencement of this role due to health and safety regulations.
You will undertake regular training in a classroom environment.
The role is ongoing and for the right candidate could lead to a temp to perm position.
37.75 hours Monday to Friday will O/T available.
£15.64 per hour.
Duties
* Safely drive and operate the van plus trailer to deliver goods to designated locations.
* Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance.
* Load and unload goods, ensuring they are secured properly for transport.
* Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation.
* Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues.
* Demonstrate mechanical knowledge by performing basic maintenance on the vehicle as needed.
* Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while on the road.
* Assist in warehouse duties when not driving, including inventory management and organisation.
Qualifications
* Valid driving licence with a clean driving record (max 6 points); experience in commercial driving is preferred.
* Must be able to tow a trailer and have experience of towing.
* Previous experience as a Van Driver or Delivery Driver is advantageous.
* Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members effectively.
* Basic mechanical knowledge to perform routine checks and maintenance on the vehicle.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a warehouse environment.
* Familiarity with flatbed vehicles is a plus but not essential.
