Set amidst acres of rolling woodland and picturesque grounds, our Faygate practice is surrounded by abundant wildlife and is within reach of the South Downs National Park and the Jurassic Coast. We have an outstanding reputation for providing market-leading care to our patients and their owners, supported by a friendly and welcoming team.
Due to growth, we are seeking a well-rounded Veterinary Surgeon to work on a weekend-only basis, for 10 hours per day on Saturdays and Sundays. Additional hours can be discussed and negotiated.
Join our dedicated, experienced, friendly, and supportive team, where patient care is at the core. Our team includes 3 night vets, 8 vets, 6 RVNs, 1 SVN, 2 VCAs, and 5 CCAs.
This well-equipped branch features digital radiography, dental radiography, multiparameter anaesthetic monitors, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, full lab equipment, CT, and two theatres. The clinic provides a separate cat waiting area, separate cat and dog wards, and an isolation facility.

Responsibilities
Client care:
* Deliver exceptional care to clients daily.
* Handle client complaints and concerns professionally.
* Provide updates to clients regarding patient care after procedures.
* Update clients on patient wellbeing during out-of-hours or enhanced care.
Patient care:
* Conduct consultations and procedures.
* Monitor and be accountable for patient care.
* Manage admissions and discharges for procedures.
* Maintain accurate and current patient records.
* Perform clinical handovers and coordinate patient transfers for out-of-hours care.
* Prescribe medication and perform dispensing checks.
* Carry out all patient care under the guidance of the vet/lead vet within your clinical competence.
Standards and Compliance:
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory and practice standards.
* Implement appropriate veterinary and nursing standards.
* Adhere to health and safety requirements.
Commercial performance:
* Prepare accurate estimates and ensure payment is collected at the time of service.
* Support actions to minimize debt and address client issues.
* Utilize clinical skills effectively to maximize capacity.
Communications:
* Conduct engaging clinical meetings with veterinary and nursing teams.
Clinical leadership:
* Support and mentor colleagues in clinical development.
* Promote clinical best practices within and across clinics.
* Mentor graduates and support nursing team coaching.
Clinical administration:
* Ensure correct lab test procedures.
* Escalate issues to the Practice Manager as needed.
Skills, knowledge, and experience:
* RCVS registered vet surgeon.
* Demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
* Support a progressive clinical culture.
* Work effectively as part of a team.
* Experience in delivering high-quality clinical care.
* Support nurse consultations and understand their impact on clinic performance.
* Use coaching and influencing skills to motivate colleagues.
