Overview
BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join their Critical Care department at our Charlestown, MA location.
Schedule: Day shifts with some weekend availability
Pay: $ - $ / hour
This pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool.
Responsibilities
* Our Veterinary Assistants perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork, etc), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handle client communication.
* As a Critical Care Veterinary Assistant, you will :
* Provide nursing care support to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
* Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
* Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
* Cleaning of the hospital according to infection control standards and protocols
* Assist Veterinary Technicians with treatments and proper restraint
* Assist performing physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
* Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia / monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
* Remain current on CPR guidelines and demonstrate proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
* Other duties as assigned
* Attend mandatory team meetings
