Under the mentorship of a senior Environmental Professional, you will manage, execute, and operate assigned program elements while actively participating in a formal training and development plan. Responsibilities include managing environmental projects (both in-house and contracted) to ensure compliance with federal and local regulations, implementing short-term goals to support the management plan, and providing expert advice on environmental issues. You will also be responsible for coordinating environmental training programs for the installation. The target grade for this position is S-12, contingent upon meeting all regulatory training requirements Qualifications and Key skills 1. (Biological Scientist/ General Engineer/ Environmental Engineer/ Physical Scientist/ Community Planner): A degree in an appropriate scientific field plus one year of specialized experience as per the required key skills Or 2. HND/City and Guilds/ NVQ Level 5/6 in an appropriate scientific field. Progressively more years of specialized experience (as outlined in the key skills) are required for qualifications below degree level. 3. A valid UK CAT B driving license 1. Knowledge of professional environmental principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to effectively perform project development, execution, training, and advisory services in assigned projects. 2. Knowledge to troubleshoot environmental problems requiring investigation of unsanitary or questionable conditions in assigned projects or program(s). 3. Knowledge of applicable Federal and local laws, regulations, integration principles and practices, and other guidance to make decisions and recommendations concerning assigned restoration, compliance, conservation, pollution prevention, and/or integration principles and practices; and health, safety, and security practices. 4. Skill to integrate an interdisciplinary team of professionals to include attorneys, public health specialists, public affairs specialists, biological scientists, environmental engineers, physical scientists, general engineers, community planners, regulators, other governmental officials, and community groups. 5. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, and establish effective working relationships with others. Conditions of employment 1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. This position may also be coded as mission essential. 2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. 3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. 4. Your work schedule is flexible to meet mission needs. Overtime and other duties appropriate to your grade and skills may be assigned. 5. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 6. This position is part of the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The incumbent must obtain Level II certification in Facilities Engineering within 24 months and maintain it by earning 80 Continuous Learning Points every two years. You may be required to obtain job-related certifications 7. You may be required to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Force during exercises or in the event of an actual emergency. 8. Regular drug testing is not conducted under the Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program; however, testing may be required due to reasonable suspicion of substance abuse or after a safety mishap/accident. NOTE: You will require a UK NATO security clearance and a right to work in the UK This position may have certain restrictions on US citizens including US dual nationals due to the Status of Forces Agreement.
