Behaviour Support Assistant – Newport Full-time and part-time roles available Are you passionate about helping young people rediscover their confidence, resilience, and love of learning? Do you thrive on making a real difference in the lives of pupils who need extra support? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive educational setting in Newport. This rewarding Behaviour Support Assistant position offers an excellent daily rate between £88.92 and £101.92 depending on experience. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have social, emotional, and behavioural needs (SEBD), supporting them to overcome challenges, regulate emotions, and make meaningful progress. You will build strong, positive relationships, acting as a mentor and role model to help learners re-engage with their education and develop confidence both inside and outside the classroom. The ideal person for this Behaviour Support Assistant role will be patient, empathetic, and proactive, with the ability to think on their feet and calmly manage challenging situations. A background in sport, youth work, or mentoring is highly valued, as pupils often benefit from short, active breaks such as playing football or other physical activities to help refocus before returning to learning. This opportunity is rooted in the principles of the Curriculum for Wales, supporting each learner to rebuild confidence, rediscover a love of learning, and achieve meaningful progress. The approach is holistic – focusing on academic achievement, personal development, and wellbeing – ensuring every young person is equipped with the skills, resilience, and aspirations needed for their next steps in education and life. Every success, no matter how small, is celebrated, and families and professionals work closely together to help learners become ambitious, capable, healthy, confident, and ethical individuals. Ideally, you will have experience working with primary or secondary-aged pupils, though applicants with transferable experience from care, coaching, or youth settings are also encouraged to apply. A driving licence is preferred, as some off-site enrichment activities are part of the role. An enhanced DBS check is required. In return, the successful Behaviour Support Assistant will receive: • A competitive daily rate of £88.92 – £101.92 (depending on experience) • Outstanding training and development opportunities, including Team Teach, Safeguarding, and additional CPD • Full-time and part-time roles available with weekends off • Auto-enrolment into a company pension scheme • Paid holiday entitlement (12.07%) • Support from an experienced education consultant • The satisfaction of making a genuine difference in young people’s lives If you are an enthusiastic, compassionate, and resilient individual who wants to help learners achieve their full potential, we would love to hear from you.
