We're working in partnership with a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Longsight who are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team from December 2025. About the Role: As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you'll play a vital role in supporting students who may have experienced barriers to learning or have been excluded from mainstream education. Your role will involve: Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs. Building positive, trusting relationships to help re-engage pupils in education. Supporting learning across core subjects and personal development activities. Managing behaviour effectively using de-escalation strategies. Working closely with teachers, mentors, and the pastoral team. About You: We're looking for someone who is: Passionate about supporting young people with SEMH or behavioural needs. Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient. Able to form strong, positive relationships with students. Experienced in a PRU, alternative provision, or similar setting (desirable but not essential). Confident managing challenging behaviour and promoting positive engagement. Holds relevant qualifications or experience (e.g., Level 2/3 TA, Youth Work, Psychology, or similar).
