Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role
The engineering team at Response Technologies is responsible for understanding and executing the complete engineering design process, whether working independently or as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to solve complex problems.
Responsibilities
* Design prototype models to test designs before full-scale production and manage workflow in both manufacturing and research and development.
* Model concepts and designs using SolidWorks or Catia and create components and assemblies for the fabrication team to construct.
* Implement and standardize CAD practices, collaborating with various departments to identify opportunities for design improvement or new product development.
* Generate bills of materials, source and purchase materials for design builds, and manage design data within SolidWorks PDM.
Qualifications
* Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, material science, kinematics, and thermal dynamics.
* 3D modeling and simulation using a CAD software; SolidWorks experience preferred.
* Knowledge of basic machining and fabrication (lathes, saws, milling, casting, and welding).
* Ability to create engineering drawings using proper GD&T.
* Exceptional mechanical aptitude and creative thinking.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
What You Need to Be Successful
* BS or MS in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace).
* Minimum 2 years of experience in original concept designing.
* Experience with CAD and GD&T.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs., and to team lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to perform prolonged kneeling, squatting, sitting, crawling, and climbing stairs, ladders and work stands. Ability to stand for extended periods during the entire duration of shift. Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling small components and tools. Flexibility to bend, stoop, and crouch as required for tasks. Good vision, including the ability to focus on small details and identify defects. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding progress and potential issues. Willingness to follow instructions and ask for clarification when needed.
