We have a great job opportunity available at nGeneration for a Project Technician / Engineer. This role requires the ability to identify and fix hardware and configuration issues, as well as repair hardware devices. Excellent client interaction skills are essential.
After completing induction training, you will visit customer sites to install, refurbish, and maintain various types of technical equipment such as EPoS equipment, chip‑and‑pin devices, tablets, digital menu boards, media screens, kitchen management systems, routers, Wi‑Fi, and other industry‑related IT equipment.
In this role you will determine the requirements and specifications for installing or servicing retail/hospitality technical equipment and hardware.
Home location: Birmingham & surrounding area.
Duties
* Conduct daily visits to client locations for break‑fix, install, refurbish, and maintain EPoS equipment, chip‑and‑pin devices, tablets, digital menu boards, media screens, kitchen management systems, routers, Wi‑Fi, and other pertinent IT equipment.
* Travel to client sites to provide on‑site equipment swap‑out services, minimising downtime during replacements.
* Perform the setup of Wi‑Fi devices and identify faults with data network cables on site.
* Troubleshoot and resolve technical, hardware or software issues during site visits, escalating to the appropriate team when solutions are not immediately attainable.
* Document troubleshooting steps and actions, signed off by the client before task completion.
* Travel widely across North West, Central, South East & South West, with UK‑wide travel and away‑from‑home stays as required.
Salary
£28,678 per annum (including On‑Call Supplement).
Job Type
Full‑Time, Permanent.
Working Hours
9.5‑hour shifts, Monday – Friday (flexibility of weekends and bank holidays as required).
Requirements
* 1 year of IT support experience (preferred).
* 1 year of EPOS experience (preferred).
* UK Manual Driving Licence (required – International Driving Licences are NOT accepted).
* Willingness to travel 100% of the time (essential). Daily travel to client sites is required.
* Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
* Technical mindset with a logical and methodical approach to troubleshooting.
* Experience or knowledge in identifying faults with data network cables.
* Previous experience as an IT Network Engineer or Telecoms/Broadband Engineer, especially in the retail/hospitality industry, is highly desirable.

Additional Information
Candidate must have a clean Full UK Manual Driver’s Licence. The role involves daily road travel visiting customer sites, which may include overnight stays. Successful applicants will receive a brand‑new van equipped with air conditioning, car play, reversing camera and sensors, satellite navigation, DAB radio, and custom racking in the rear tailored to client needs.
