EduTalent Group are recruiting for a supportive and dynamic SEMH school in Bexhill that is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Specialist to join their team for an immediate start.
The school supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, providing a structured and therapeutic environment where students are encouraged to re-engage with education and develop both academically and personally.
• Provide pastoral support to pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis
• Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour and social development
• Build strong, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and attendance
• Implement behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
• Work closely with teaching staff to support pupils within the classroom
• Liaise with families, carers and external professionals where required
• Monitor pupil wellbeing, attendance and behaviour, reporting concerns appropriately
• Support reintegration into learning and promote positive routines
• Maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
Requirements
• Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEMH or SEN setting
• Strong understanding of behaviour management and pastoral care
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils who may present challenging behaviour
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
