Overview
We are looking for someone who communicates effectively and can provide compassionate service as the first voice callers hear. You will help ensure patients and staff feel respected and valued as part of a close-knit switchboard team.
Our Switchboard is the primary point of call for callers to the Trust. We want someone bold and enthusiastic with great customer service skills, staying calm under pressure and supporting callers quickly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
* Operate the hospital computerised operator console and large electronic telephone directory, bleep system, monitor alarms, and act as first point of contact in most emergency situations.
* Prioritise and undertake numerous tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
* Respond to emergencies extremely quickly and efficiently, able to work well under pressure and relay information accurately.
* Work on a shift basis across two sites – Royal Preston and Chorley Hospital – as part of a 24/7 service with a three-shift system (early, late, nights).
Requirements / Skills
* Excellent communication and organisational skills; ability to work as part of a team and on your own.
* Bold and enthusiastic with strong customer service skills; ability to remain calm under pressure and provide efficient support to callers.
* Willingness to undergo a training package to operate the system and handle emergencies.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple simultaneous tasks.
* Based at Chorley Hospital and Preston Hospital.
