Position
An exciting vacancy has arisen within ‘Foxgrove’, the new National Secure Adolescent In-Patient Service (NSAIS), sited at Ayrshire Central Hospital. Foxgrove is a new specialist medium secure mental health service for Young People, age 12-18, who are liable for detention for assessment and treatment of mental disorder under relevant sections of Mental Health (Care & Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003; or Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995. All patients admitted to the service will be considered to present a significant risk of harm to others and some patient may also pose a risk of harm to themselves.
As the Technical Instructor you will be supporting the AHP Leads with clinical work.
What you will do:
Clinical work will be focused on delivering a high standard of clinical care to young people accessing Foxgrove, both directly and through work with the multi-disciplinary team within the Service. The young people who will be admitted are anticipated to have a range of complex needs, focused around mental health difficulties and neurodevelopmental conditions.
This post requires a level of flexibility within role- including weekend work as clinically appropriate (with no nightshift cover)

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
Experience in a Health, social care or education environment, and a relevant SVQ 3, or HNC
Evidence of work in health/social or voluntary care.
Demonstrated experience of working autonomously in the delivery of care.
Knowledge of the role that AHPs provide to inpatient settings, rehabilitation techniques, and activities relevant to the client group.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Driving licence.
Observation and basic assessment skills
Ability to apply a range of creative, technical and practical skills
Positive relationship behaviours including effective person centred communication and interpersonal skills
Organisation, planning and time management skills
Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
Hours: 22.2 hours per week
Driving Licence/Car Ownership:
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential to this role.
