Senior Pensions Administrator – Transport for London
Contract Type: Full‑time, Permanent
Location: Palestra / Hybrid (50% office, 50% home, 4‑week cycle)
Pay Band: Band 2 – Circa £42,000 + TfL benefits
Job Purpose
The Senior Pensions Administrator is responsible for providing specialist pension assistance across the entire pension lifecycle, supporting the administration of complex pension transactions. The role is the subject‑matter expert on resolving pension‑related queries, ensuring adherence to legislation, policies and compliance.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide specialist administrative services to employees and management on all pension/payroll queries.
* Take ownership and resolve all pension lifecycle queries through investigation and analysis.
* Apply expert knowledge and use relevant technology effectively to resolve customer issues.
* Ensure all data is logged on the relevant pension system in a timely, accurate and consistent manner and documentation is maintained in line with data‑protection guidelines.
* Check and authorise calculations of benefits completed by other team members and raise escalations where appropriate.
* Monitor and control own transactions to achieve efficiency and best value, managing workload through the work‑manager system.
* Track case‑management performance and service handling against SLAs.
* Continuously seek ways to improve practice, ensuring compliance and customer satisfaction.
* Provide guidance and support to junior team members through training and coaching.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Applying pension policies and procedures (practitioner level).
* Managing service‑level agreements.
* Data entry and maintenance.
* Attention to detail.
* Case management.
* Pension systems competence.
* Application of pension‑fund rules and legislation; strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
* Advanced knowledge of pension principles, payroll administration, trust deed and rules, and finance and tax law pertaining to pensions.
* Experience working under strict deadlines and handling sensitive, confidential matters.
* Experience with case‑management and pension administration systems and complex pension enquiries.
* Strong communication across diverse audiences.
* Experience administering final‑salary pension arrangements and keeping current with pension legislation.
