Job description
Role Specification:
· To provide and maintain a high standard of individualised care & comfort allowing the quality of life of the residents to be maximised in a caring, supportive & friendly environment.
· To work closely as a team member with other members of staff on duty.
Principal Duties:
· Maintain a high standard of care & comfort for the resident's in the Home, with the help of other staff, in line with their individual care plans.
· Assist residents where appropriate with all care connected with daily living, independence (including household duties), mobility, washing & dressing, bathing & nutrition.
· Help to promote social activity within the Home and help resident's to participate in chosen activities within their local community.
· Attend to the laundry for residents, who require this in a healthy & hygienic manner, maintain a high standard of respect of personal clothing & possessions.
· Maintain good hygiene standards at all times, as per the Home's policy & procedure.
· Report any concerns, worries or ill health of the resident's to the person in charge.
· Provide & participate in activities, and/or outings for the resident's. Provide a sense of well-being and maximise their quality of life.
· Respect resident's wishes & involve the in their care, allowing them to make choices & decisions.
· Offer any suggestions to the Manager which may improve the service given or efficiency of the Home.
· Maintain good relationships with relatives & be courteous to all visitors by making them feel welcome in the Home.
· Do not undertake any duty of which you are unsure or have not had prior permission or instructions from the person in charge or outside agencies.
· Report any Health & Safety or Security standards which fail to be met to the Manager and be aware of the Homes Health & Safety & Security Standards set out in the Homes Policy & Procedure.
· Maintain good levels of communication between all other staff members & resident's. If required to do so, answer the telephone & deal with visitors in a polite & courteous manner.
· Ensure you are aware of the Homes Policies & Procedure within the Home & ask if unsure about any.
· Clean equipment & possessions of the resident's.
· Ensure safe & correct usage & storage of all cleaning & washing materials, and be fully aware of COSHH regulations.
· Participate in Key Worker system in the Home.
· Be willing to participate in the training policy of the Home, & attend staff meetings as required.
· Attend courses that are beneficial to the high standards of the Home.
· Report any accidents immediately to the person in charge & complete a report form.
· Maintain confidentiality (GDPR) at all times.
· Ensure that the name & integrity of the Home is not brought into dispute.
· Ensure that all Home's philosophies are adhered to at all times.
· Be fully aware of your terms & conditions of employment.
· Observe the Home's Policy & Procedure involving abuse, carry out if necessary the homes Policy of Whistle Blowing.
· Handle & dispose all clinical waste in a safe & correct manner. Be aware of the Home's policy & Procedure.
· Maintain knowledge for handling & storing food products. Observe dates & disposure & understand the danger of food poisoning.
· Always wear protective clothing provided. If & when, dealing with personal body fluids of a resident, handling food, using chemicals & carrying out tasks that require your safety.
