Are you ready to launch or take the next step in your career with one of the UK’s top housebuilders? Hill is looking for an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Development Surveyor to join our growing team and support the successful delivery of our residential and joint venture projects.
This role will be based with our South-West Development team in our Bristol head office.
The Role:
As an Assistant Development Surveyor, you’ll play a key supporting role in the planning and delivery of Hill’s development portfolio. You'll work closely with teams across the business – including Land, Design, Technical, Construction, Sales, Legal and Communications – to help drive projects from land acquisition through to handover. This is a hands-on, dynamic role where your input will be instrumental to the success of multiple exciting developments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the delivery of residential and JV projects in line with agreed programmes and business plans.
* Support the planning process – including applications, consents, and S106/CIL obligations.
* Contribute to due diligence, development appraisals, and programme reporting.
* Help manage planning budgets, consultant appointments, and legal documentation.
* Support the handover of projects to technical, construction, and sales teams.
* Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders including local authorities, landowners, housing associations, and community groups.
* Champion Health & Safety and ensure awareness of CDM regulations.
* Mentor and support trainees, sharing best practices and acting as a positive role model.
What We’re Looking For:
* Relevant experience in residential development, surveying, or planning.
* Strong understanding of the UK planning system and development process.
* Ability to undertake development appraisals and manage budgets.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive attitude, eager to learn and grow within the business.
