We are recruiting Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians (PTPTs) to work within all areas of the Derbyshire Healthcare Pharmacy department. Pharmacy Technicians have an important role within the hospital, managing all aspects of medicines.
Responsibilities
* Participate in the dispensing of individual patient medicines including controlled drugs and extemporaneous preparations, ensuring legal and ethical requirements are met.
* Complete Accredited Checking of medicines log and assessment.
* Participate in the receipt, ordering and distribution of medicines to wards and teams.
* Complete Medicine Reconciliation at ward level, checking patient own medicines and ensuring a supply of medicines is available.
* Develop knowledge and effectively counsel patients on their medication and provide medicine advice.
* Order repeat inpatient and stock medicines.
* Complete pharmacy governance audits.
* Provide excellent customer care to patients, healthcare workers and the public, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Minimum of 4 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade 4/C or above, including English, Maths and a Science subject.
* Willingness to train for a career as a Registered Pharmacy Technician and study for a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians while working on an Apprenticeship program.
* Commitment to complete independent study in your own time and follow an academic and practical training course.
* Ability to develop and demonstrate skills to meet the Pharmacy Technician Advanced Integrated Apprenticeship requirements over 2 years.
* Commitment to information governance and patient confidentiality.
