Join to apply for the Children's Healthcare Assistant role at Acorns Children's Hospice in Birmingham. We provide care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Roles are available on both full-time and part-time hours.
Acorns Healthcare Assistants are part of a multidisciplinary team delivering care packages tailored to each child’s holistic needs, structured to ensure you have the time to care.
Each hospice is purpose-built with welcoming, homely environments to support children, young people and their families.
Responsibilities
* Work under the direction of the registered nurse to provide care in a variety of settings
* Provide personalised care to children, young people and families as per the child’s holistic care plan and identify changes in condition, escalating to the registered nurse as required
* Empower children, young people and relatives to participate in decisions about their care
* Encourage engagement in a wide range of stimulating activities both indoors and outdoors, and utilise local community facilities where appropriate
* Support the child’s psychological, social and physical needs
About You
* Care Certificate or willingness to work towards
* Previous experience of working with children with complex health needs
* Ability to provide care sensitively, taking into account culture, beliefs and wishes
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and adults

Additional Information
Interviews are scheduled for early October. You must be eligible to work in the UK. A DBS check for children and two satisfactory references will be required. Evidence of immunisation against specific diseases or willingness to receive vaccinations may also be requested.
