Company accountant

A Company Accountant is required for a creative and fast-growing SME in the food & drink sector, producing a range of high-quality products supplied across the UK and internationally. Recently strengthened through integration into a wider group with a turnover of c.£50m, the company remains a stand-alone entity giving this role the autonomy and variety of an all-round accounting position, with the added support and stability of a larger finance function.


The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Company Accountant / Management Accountant to take ownership of the finance function for the business. Acting as the go-to finance lead on site, youll handle everything from day-to-day transactions through to month-end accounts and strategic financial analysis, supported by the wider group finance team.


Key responsibilities include:

1. Preparing monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet and cashflow reporting
2. Managing month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
3. Overseeing purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations
4. Monitoring production costs, stock, and margins, with regular analysis
5. Preparing VAT returns and statutory submissions (including industry-specific duties)
6. Supporting budgets, forecasts, and cashflow planning
