Your Role
We are on the lookout for a passionate School Caretaker to join our team! In this vital role, you will ensure the maintenance, security, and cleanliness of our school premises. You will be the face of the school when dealing with contractors and suppliers, making sure our environment is safe and welcoming for everyone.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain clean, safe, and secure school premises, including buildings and grounds.
* Perform cleaning, handyperson activities, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
* Supervise school cleaning staff to ensure high standards are met.
* Promote health and safety throughout the school.
* Manage porterage duties, such as moving furniture and equipment.
* Report any maintenance issues to the Head Teacher.
* Carry out small repairs and DIY projects as needed.
* Arrange larger repairs and obtain quotes from contractors.
* Conduct daily cleaning and ad-hoc duties, including litter picking.
* Respond to emergency cleaning needs, such as gritting and spillages.
* Organize an annual deep clean of key areas within the school.
* Maintain cleaning tools and products, ensuring good stock levels.
* Act as the main key holder, securing the premises as required.
* Conduct regular checks of security systems and report any issues.
* Advise the Head Teacher on matters related to school security and safety.
What We’re Looking For
* Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools.
* Previous caretaking experience in a school environment.
* Experience in building maintenance and security systems.
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations.
* Basic DIY skills and good interpersonal abilities.
* Good literacy and numeracy skills.
* A willingness to work in an environment with SEMH children.
* Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check, with costs covered by ISP.
