We're looking for a Finance Benefit and Debt Advisor who has a rare mix of practicality, compassion, organisation and flexibility.
Rehabilitation isn’t just about offering advice; it’s about proactively supporting someone to break down their financial barriers and enable them to move forward.
This is a demanding role; you'll work in a challenging environment with people who have complex needs and who may be reluctant to engage.
Role Description
Primarily based out of the probation office, you’ll provide information, advice and support to individuals helping them regain control over their finances.
You’ll support multiple individuals simultaneously, ensuring focused support for each while keeping meticulous records of every interaction to measure progress and ensure effective interventions.
You’ll chase responses from stakeholders, follow up benefit applications and manage all aspects of money management for each person.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice and support covering budgeting, payment plans, benefits, opening bank accounts, and financial awareness.
* Collaborate with external agencies such as local councils, charities, housing providers, utility providers, and probation services.
* Maintain meticulous records of interactions to evaluate interventions.
* Deliver support in various settings, including tailored one-to-one sessions and group workshops on financial literacy.
* Deliver workshops on financial literacy and money management alongside one-to-one interventions.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Ability to build relationships with people at all levels and key stakeholders within Probation.
* Compassionate, non-judgemental approach to vulnerable people with complex needs.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills; able to handle a busy caseload.
* Safeguarding awareness to identify potential risks.
* Flexibility and ability to adapt to change and think on your feet.
* Enhanced DBS check and HMPPS EL1 vetting required.
* Start date at least 6 weeks from offer to allow for clearance checks.
