What's involved with this role: Interim Social Worker - Safeguarding/ Children Team Reference no: PCC (HQ) PCC17586 Pay Rate: £30.77 per hour PAYE 37 Monday to Friday, normal working hours This opening assignment is for 3 months City: PETERBOROUGH Hybrid – however expectations to be available locally to respond to urgent safeguarding matters Hold a case load commensurate with a significantly experienced social worker, a case load of Care Proceedings, Child Protection and complex CIN cases. Ensure effective safeguarding of vulnerable children through direct work, progression of plans and effective robust analysis. Key Responsibilities Work with families on child in need and child protection plans. Work with children in care whilst care proceedings ongoing. Long term care planning and adoption work. Practice within the prevailing legislative framework and council policies and procedures, under the supervision of the Team Manager. Ensure that work is completed within the stated timescales in accordance with both national and local policy. Manage a mixed workload, including working with vulnerable children, young people, families and carers who experience complex problems. Ensure needs are met and risks are managed to achieve best outcomes for children and young people. Advocate for children and young people and ensure their voices are heard and they are supported to participate in a variety of ways and forums as is appropriate to their needs, age and development Provide high quality and timely assessments and reports in the agreed format for Courts, Child Protection Case Conferences, Statutory Child in Care Reviews and any other forum as directed. Work collaboratively with and develop good working relationships with individual children and young people, families, carers, colleagues and other agencies. Maintain records in relation to recording information about children and families in line with Council policy and procedure. Undertake safeguarding investigations, attend strategy meetings, case conferences and reviews as the lead professional where required. Ability to produce concise, literate reports and plans using the accepted agency frameworks, which specify evidence based interventions and related outcomes. Demonstrate ability to take responsibility for workload and priorities, and to use own initiative to respond independently to problems and unexpected situations, seeking support from the Team Manager as appropriate. Ability to undertake direct and life story work that is tailored to children’s and young people’s developmental stage, identity and needs. Ability to undertake parenting/family support and interventions. Ability to write in a clear, concise and professional way and be understood by a variety of audiences.
