We have a rare opportunity for you to join our enthusiastic, highly skilled, and ambitious nursing team in the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) infusion room. We are a team providing speciality care for patients with Crohn's and Colitis, and the infusion room offers a vital service by initiating and administering biologics and other therapeutic medications to improve patients' lives.
Specialist nurses and pharmacists work side by side within the infusion room, sharing their skills and knowledge to enhance patient care and develop the nursing team. The IBD team strives to provide the best individualised, holistic care and welcomes individuals who share this approach.
Main duties of the job
* Assess patient needs and ensure all aspects of care are provided.
* Manage day unit appointments and scheduling with support from the Senior Nurse.
* Provide emotional support to patients and families coping with long-term chronic conditions.
* Support the IBD advice line and seek guidance from senior CNSs or the Medical Team as needed before advising patients and healthcare professionals.
* Attend MDT meetings and virtual biologic clinics when required.
* Keep patients and relatives fully informed.
* Maintain accurate nursing documentation using the database and electronic patient record system.
* Commit to delivering a safe, high-quality service.
* Collaborate with allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive Gastroenterology care.
* Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
* Support senior nursing staff and deputise in their absence.

Job responsibilities
This role involves joining our skilled nursing team in the IBD infusion room, providing specialist care for Crohn's and Colitis patients by initiating and administering biologics and other therapies. The postholder will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care, working independently with support from the senior IBD nurse. Responsibilities include auditing clinical practice and assisting with educational programmes. Cross-site cover may be required.
Person Specification
Qualifications / Experience
* NMC registration
* Significant post-registration experience as a Band 5 nurse
* Completed IV medication competency
* Experience in an NHS or UK healthcare setting
