Job Summary
Selsey Community Nursery prides itself on providing high quality childcare to the local community, doing so for the past decade. In December 2023 the nursery was rated Good by Ofsted which we are extremely proud of. It is an importance of ours to continually develop our environment and provision to ensure we are giving the children in our care a supportive and thriving start to their education.
We are recruiting for a Level 3 Qualified Room Leader. The perfect candidate will be highly motivated, energetic and creative individual to join our fantastic team to provide children with the best start in life through early years education from ages 3 months – 5 years. They will have the ability to lead and motivate a staff team to ensure the smooth running of their room each day.
Variable shift patterns available Monday-Friday between 7.30am and 6pm.
Duties include:
* Lead and manage a team of childcare professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality care.
* Monitor staff performance, providing feedback to Nursery Managers and conducting training as necessary.
* Planning and creating interesting activities to meet the children's needs and interests on a daily basis.
* Working within a strong team to ensure the smooth day to day running of the nursery.
* Working in line with the Statutory Framework and EYFS to support children's learning and development.
* Building positive and effective relationships with children and families providing feedback to parents/carers.
* Oversee the online journals for the children in the room, ensuring children's assessments observations and learning journals are regularly updated by the child's Keyperson.
* Attending training courses for continued professional development.
Skills:
* Leadership qualities with the ability to lead a team within an early years setting to a high standard.
* Experience working with children, preferably in a nursery or early childhood setting.
* Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
* Knowledge of early childhood education best practices and the Statutory Framework.
* A nurturing attitude with the ability to engage positively with children of various ages, whilst supporting and mentoring a small staff team.
