We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 IV Therapy Nurse to join our specialist hospital IV Therapy & OPAT/COpAT Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and compassionate registered nurse with any experience in intravenous therapy and vascular access to support the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centred care across our inpatient and outpatient services.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering and coordinating a range of IV therapies, managing vascular access devices, working closely within our OPAT/COpAT service and SACT departments and providing expert clinical support and advice to the ward teams. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to maintaining high standards of care, improving patient outcomes, and supporting education and service development within the IV & OPAT/COpAT Therapy service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25000), and any role-specific criteria.
We welcome applications from those who currently hold a UK NMC registration. If you currently hold an overseas nursing qualification and require sponsorship we are not currently direct hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses.
1. To maintain a knowledge base that reflects contemporary issues in IV therapy to enable adherence to policy and guidelines and promote best practice with regards to all aspects of IV Therapy.
2. To act as an expert to other healthcare professionals on the management of IV therapy providing specialist clinical advice, guidance and support.
3. To be aware of the principles of clinical governance in relation to IV administration and risk management.
4. To ensure that all patients awaiting to commence SACT will be seen, assessed and a decision on appropriate vascular access device made in a timely manner.
5. ·Support the management and maintenance of vascular access devices including PICCs, Midlines, and cannulas.
6. To ensure that patients admitted to the COPAT service are assessed, their care is planned and implemented and evaluated using research evidence as appropriate.
7. To assess adults and children’s vascular access needs and insert devices as appropriate to ensure effective delivery of IV therapy and facilitate timely patient discharge.
8. To ensure that all nursing procedures are carried out in accordance with UHSUSSEX NHS Foundation Trust policies taking appropriate action in emergency situations.
9. In conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, be responsible for setting, monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of care particularly for patients with multiple needs who require complex packages of care.
10. Ensuring that accurate and timely nursing records are maintained, monitoring standards and taking appropriate corrective action as necessary.
11. Maintaining personal contact with patients, relatives and carers, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity and privacy and always ensuring a friendly environment.
12. To work in an unsupervised capacity throughout all areas of the speciality.
13. To prioritise own work and that of others to ensure the service is managed effectively.
14. To be proficient in the required clinical skills needed to manage patient care in both adults and paediatrics including insertion of PICCs/Midlines/PVCs & Venepuncture and other specialised vascular access devices.
