The Commercial Project Manager is a pivotal role within Zeus Packaging, responsible for managing and delivering commercial procurement and supply chain projects that support the National Accounts Team. This role serves as a key commercial engine in the organisation, working cross-functionally with Procurement, Sales, and Supply Chain to execute strategic tenders, deliver competitive customer solutions, optimise supplier relationships, and drive margin improvement. The individual will support both existing customer projects and new business opportunities. The role may also align with European colleagues, supporting pan-European tenders and commercial initiatives across the Zeus Group, ensuring cohesive delivery for multinational customers. Collaboration with the Senior Commercial Project Manager and the Purchasing team is key to drive efficient utilisation of the Group’s resources, these will be drivers of business growth and success As part of the Zeus UK purchasing department there would be an expectation to assist within the wider team with larger bodies of work / leave cover particularly in the Category buyer function in particularly busy times Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership Assist the Senior Commercial Manager in leading end-to-end delivery of commercial projects Help define project scope, milestones, and outcomes, and maintain accountability throughout the project lifecycle. Provide leadership and direction to cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful execution where required. Procurement, Resource & Supply Chain Solutions Manage specialist stock planning and supply chain requirements in line with customer expectations and service levels. Allocate resources efficiently to optimise project delivery Negotiate with Suppliers relating to large projects / tenders to improve commercial terms and drive value added opportunities Help seek opportunities through large tenders / projects to drive commercial value on packaging solutions including corrugated, stretch films, tapes, void fill and related consumables Tender Management & Sales Support Collaborate with Key Account Managers to prepare competitive pricing models and commercial proposals for tenders and new business bids. Assemble and lead specialist personnel from around the Zeus group Foster a positive and collaborative team environment Support UK and strategic tenders through alignment with Zeus’ international teams, contributing pricing analysis, sourcing intelligence, and commercial structuring. Develop cost models that enhance gross margin while meeting the technical and commercial needs of clients. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as a central liaison between Procurement, Sales, Operations, and Customer teams. Facilitate internal collaboration to deliver scalable, commercially sound, and customer-centric solutions. Communicate project status, risks, and results to internal and external stakeholders with clarity and consistency. Performance & Risk Management Monitor project delivery against defined KPIs including revenue growth, gross margin, and profitability targets. Identify and mitigate risks proactively, adapting plans and providing solutions as needed. Ensure all deliverables meet quality and compliance standards. Documentation, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Maintain accurate and complete documentation including specifications, approvals, pricing data, and commercial reports. Promote knowledge sharing and process optimisation across teams and business units. Prepare and present project status to stakeholders Lead post-project reviews to assess success, capture lessons learned, and recommend improvements. Strong knowledge of procurement, sourcing, and supplier negotiation strategies. Experience supporting national tendering processes. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills. Highly analytical with strong commercial acumen and attention to detail. Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities effectively. Desirable Experience in the packaging, FMCG, or industrial products sector. Familiarity with working in multi-national, matrix organisations. Knowledge of European markets and suppliers would be an advantage.
