Overview
I am a young man of primary school age. My mother and I would like to employ a personal assistant to help me participate in social activities, engage with my peers and to allow my mum to have some time to herself. I am a lively young person who requires a lot of supervision, especially when I am out of the house. Sometimes, I may display challenging behaviour, so it is essential that my PA has experience dealing with things like this. Familiarity is important to me; I will need my PA to help me develop routines and activities which are familiar and engaging.
Typical Activities
* Swimming
* Playing on the beach
* Going to the park
* Attending the Sgiliau Play Centre
* After school clubs
* Playing video games and listening to music at home
* Creative activities and baking in the kitchen
Responsibilities
* Assist the child in attending social activities and school clubs.
* Help develop and maintain routines and engaging activities.
* Provide supervision while the child is outside the house.
* Support the child and the family in daily tasks and activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience dealing with challenging behaviour in a primary school-aged child.
* Availability to work up to 4 hours per week.
* Willingness to attend any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post.
* Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check (no cost to applicant).
* Two satisfactory references if requested by the employer.
Contractual Details
* Employment is with an individual employer, not Ceredigion County Council.
* Wages paid in arrears on a 4‑weekly basis once a valid National Insurance number has been provided.
* Applicant must be eligible to work in the UK and undergo document checks.
* Trial period of 1 month and probationary period of up to 6 months.
* Annual leave entitlement and all other statutory entitlements will be set out in the contract of employment.
* Personal Assistants Handbook will be issued at commencement.
* Employee will be expected to undertake any mandatory training; failure to attend may result in offer withdrawal.
