Health Improvement Officer – Sexual Health and Blood‑Borne Viruses
Band 6; 22.5 hours per week – Salary scale: £41,608 - £50,702 pro rata
Scope of Role
Working predominantly in the Sexual Health and BBV Managed Care Network (SHBBV MCN), the post holder will help develop, implement and deliver evidence‑based health promotion activities aimed at improving sexual and reproductive health, preventing blood‑borne viruses, and supporting people living with a BBV in Tayside. The role involves leading and coordinating health‑improvement work with partners across health services, education, third sector and social care settings, and actively listening to people affected by poor sexual health and BBV.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver training sessions and specialist advice on sexual health and BBV.
* Lead health‑improvement projects in partnership with local and regional stakeholders.
* Support the delivery of the cool2talk Q&A service for young people.
* Coordinate work and maintain relationships with a wide range of partners across Tayside.
* Travel across a broad geographical area and be flexible for occasional out‑of‑hours work.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree level education or equivalent.
* Postgraduate diploma (or equivalent experience) in public health, health promotion or related field.
* Relevant current health‑improvement experience at an operational level.
* Excellent communication, influencing skills and knowledge of health‑improvement theory and practice.
Additional Requirements
* Mandatory induction standards for Healthcare Support Workers in Scotland.
* Compliance with the NHS Scotland Code of Conduct.
* Travel to cover duties across a wide geographical area.
* Occasional out‑of‑hours work may be required.
