We are looking for a proactive, commercially focused Facilities Management Contract Manager to oversee the delivery of hard and soft FM services across multiple educational establishments within the Torbay Schools Project. This is a high-responsibility role, combining operational leadership, commercial management, team development, and exceptional client relationship management. You will ensure the contract delivers sector-leading standards, full compliance, and best value for the client. About The Role As the FM Contract Manager, you will oversee the complete delivery of hard and soft FM services across the estate — spanning mechanical and electrical maintenance, fabric and building services, grounds, catering, cleaning, porterage, caretaking, subcontractor management, lifecycle works, and more. You will lead a skilled team, manage contractors, drive financial performance, and maintain strong client relationships. The role requires a confident decision-maker with deep FM expertise, a commitment to quality, and a passion for delivering outstanding service. Key Responsibilities Facilities Management Manage all Hard & Soft FM services including M&E, building fabric, landscaping, catering, cleaning, grounds maintenance, caretaking, porterage, helpdesk operations, asset surveys, lifecycle and variation works. Leadership & Team Management Provide strong leadership, motivation, mentoring, and performance management to all project staff. Project & Lifecycle Management Plan and manage Variation and Lifecycle Project Works, ensuring safe, efficient delivery and adherence to budget. Financial Management Lead project P&L, forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and reporting across all FM and catering services. Contract Performance Ensure full compliance with all contractual obligations; produce accurate reports; maintain detailed records; and identify opportunities for improvement and value creation. Client & Customer Engagement Build and maintain excellent relationships with clients, stakeholders, and on-site teams, delivering a sector-leading standard of customer service. Subcontractor Management Manage specialist contractors through regular reviews, ensuring contractual, quality, safety, and budget requirements are met. Health & Safety Ensure a safe environment for building users; conduct risk assessments; provide expert guidance; and maintain full statutory and legislative compliance. Quality & Environmental Assurance Maintain compliance with all Quality and Environmental policies; conduct audits; and ensure timely resolution of non-conformities. About You Essential Experience & Skills Significant FM management experience, including delivering a wide range of hard and soft services Strong experience working on complex and successful PFI contracts 10 years’ senior FM management experience Proven leadership and staff development capabilities Strong project management experience Health & Safety knowledge or relevant qualification Excellent IT skills (including MS Office) Ability to produce detailed reports and interpret complex data Knowledge of SFG20 Experience with AP/RP structures Desirable Experience in PFI FM delivery within education NEBOSH qualification IWFM (BIFM) membership or qualification Fire safety training Legionella management experience CDM knowledge Personal Attributes Strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills Highly organised with strong judgement and ability to manage multiple priorities Customer-focused, with a commitment to delivering outstanding service Analytical, commercially aware, and able to make evidence-based decisions Motivated, flexible, and resilient, with a high degree of personal commitment Able to work independently while remaining a strong team player Why Join Us?
