Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking Lead Clinical Endoscopist within the Mid & South Essex University Endoscopy departments.
As a Lead Clinical Endoscopist, you will be already experienced in working within endoscopy services and have a sound clinical management background, demonstrating independent practice. You should be UGI & LGI trained with significant evidence of clinical practice. By working collaboratively with medical and nursing colleagues across various specialties—including anaesthetics, interventional radiology, infection control, cancer services, medicine, and surgical services—you will demonstrably improve patient care and outcomes by providing expert clinical and nursing leadership for the service's development.
You will be expected to lead the clinical endoscopist team, influence and support national, regional, and local strategies related to endoscopy services, and represent the department at Trust-wide clinical meetings.
You will also play a key role in supporting endoscopy training delivered through the Mid & South Essex endoscopy training scheme.
Main duties of the job
As a clinical expert, you will be the named clinician for patients in your caseload within MSE and will fulfill the four domains of the Consultant role:
1. Advanced and expert practice within your field
2. Professional leadership and consultancy
3. Development and provision of education and training
4. Practice and service development, research, and evaluation
In this senior role, you will demonstrate expert, high-quality, values-based professional practice that enhances patient experience across services and local settings. You will provide highly expert clinical guidance and leadership across nursing and Allied Health Professional disciplines, serving as a role model for safe, effective, and high-quality care within Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, including adult day cases.
You will provide clinical leadership and role modeling to nursing and AHP colleagues, supporting our mission to enable the general patient population to achieve optimal health, independence, and well-being.
