We’re looking for a motivated and skilled Technical Officer to join the Commercial Team at Liverpool City Council.

The Role:
As a Technical Officer in our Commercial team, you’ll help ensure businesses across the city comply with legislation relating to:
* Food hygiene
* Health and safety
* Public health
* Animal welfare and animal licensing
Your duties will include inspections and visits, providing advice and enforcement where necessary, investigating complaints (including drainage and commercial waste), assisting in food poisoning cases, and the undertaking of food and water sampling.
You’ll work both proactively and reactively, managing a varied workload with the support of experienced Environmental Health colleagues.
What We’re Looking For:
You’ll need one of the following qualifications (or equivalent):
* An accredited Environmental Health Degree (BSc/MSc) or Diploma
* A Higher Certificate in Food Control, including the practical food identification exam
* An Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene and Standards Control, including the practical food examination
* A relevant health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH (certificate or diploma)
* Another qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Public Health)
Key Skills & Attributes:
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise effectively
* Confidence in handling both proactive inspections and reactive investigations
* A collaborative approach to working within a team
